Media and Observer Guidelines

Media and Observer Guidelines PDF (308 K)

The primary objective of “We the People” is to provide Owensboro-Daviess County residents
with a chance to discuss the issues facing the region and to find agreement about the most
important priorities. We respectfully request that all media members and other observers who
attend the discussion help to ensure that participants are able to take part in these discussions
without disruption by following the following guidelines:

  1. Identify Yourself: If you are observing a small group discussion, please identify yourself
clearly as a member of the media or observer.
  2. Respect Requests from Table Facilitators: If a table facilitator asks you to move on to
another small group because participants are uncomfortable, please respect this
    request.
  3. Attribution of Participants: Participants need to be able to feel free to speak honestly
and openly in table discussions. Please do not attribute any comments made in table
discussions to a specific person without permission from the participant. Please feel free
to quote table discussions without any specific attribution.
  4. Interviewing Participants: Please do not take participants away from tables to be
    interviewed or disrupt table discussions.
